Founded: 01st Sep 2003
Town or City: Church Stretton
Areas covered: Church Stretton town centre
We are a well established group of seventeen volunteers who hold monthly working sessions in our small market town - the only town in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
We work for a couple of hours early on Sunday mornings - starting at 7.30am to avoid traffic & work in empty streets. We sweep pavements & gutters, litter pick throughout our town centre (including our car parks), clear drains, remove dog fouling, wash signs, paint railings & fences, clear weeds, mow grass and generally help our councils to make our town as neat, tidy and efficient as we can.
Our efforts have been rewarded this month by our SSDC Streetscene officers entering us into the Clean Town Awards 2008 - the first Shropshire town to be entered.
New volunteers are always made welcome...please bring your own zimmer frame! - but safety tabards, gloves, brushes, and cleaning materials are provided, and we have insurance... and free coffee & croissants at the end of our stints.
