We are a revitalised 'clean-up' group of some 20 years' standing having recently incorporated collaboration with other agencies such as the Environment Agency, BTCV, Highways and Groundworks as well as improving communication with our LA, local farmers and schools. Our aims are broader now, in that there are two new elements, namely education on litter and LA backed health walks. The latter will enable those who wish, to enjoy our rural pathways, which are now regularly litter-picked and at the same time build up their stamina in walking for health.
We are currently fundraising to enable us to install community notice boards to further publicise local events and amenities and our aims, hoping to enlist more volunteers to our litter-picking/clean-up days. We recently installed two new boards, with Groundwork Merseyside, on Pex Hill and at the Cronton end of Sandy Lane. Our LA, Knowsley MBC, is very supportive and we have regular meetings with our Neighbourhood team to discuss mutual areas of concern and ways forward to address these. Future plans involve forging links with neighbouring LAs, namely St Helens and Halton, with a view to liaising on littering of our border areas.
