The Leigh on Mendip Womens Institute in Somerset organises an annual litter pick in March covering Leigh on Mendip village and the surrounding lanes.  The event is advertised widely throughout the village and we are joined in our efforts by family and villagers.  The village school children take part every year by clearing their school environment and learning about the litter pick.

The worst offenders in the lanes are fly tippers and people lunching in their vehicles.  There have been some surprising finds!
