Bardsea Beach Clean
Nearly forty volunteers turned out at Bardsea on Saturday to take part in a beach clean organised as part of the Ulverston Walking Festival. The Morecambe Bay Partnership had been asked to hold the event by Steve Povey of Ulverston Walking Festival.
The beach at Bardsea is rarely badly littered, as some of the beaches around the bay that catch the prevailing winds, and most of the litter there comes from careless visitors to the beach. However that did not stop the volunteers from filling over 30 bags of waste, weighing in at more than 145Kg.
Volunteer beach clean leader Matt Sanderson said “We have had an excellent afternoon here at Bardsea with wonderful weather to help us. This time we only found one barrel of tallow from the stricken ferry Riverdance and we will pass the details on to the contractors responsible for removing it.
