Calor Village of the Year Competition

It was great to see some new faces joining the event plus members of the Alveston Community Forum.  We were litter picking ready for judging of the Calor Village of the Year competition.  The majority of litter was the usual plastic bottles, aluminium cans, crisp packets and cigarette boxes.   Unfortunately a large pile of household articles were found in some woodland off Old Gloucester Rd. They appeared to be the remains of someones 'camp'.  On the positive side fewer bags of rubbish were gathered than on the prevous event so maybe we're getting on top of things, or the message of 'Stop the Drop' is working.  Litter picking also has its rewards, like finding a £5 note amongst the rubbish !  So MANY THANKS to everyone who joined in.  Also thank you to all those people who said 'Thank You' to us as we went around the village.  It certainly makes a difference.
